many senior school students (高中生) are faced with the headache choice between big universities and small ones。 apart from different requirements, each has advantages and disadvantages。
if you ask me what my preference is, my answer is that i would like to go to a big university。 a big university attracts me for sound reasons。 more qualified teaching staff, higher aims and better conditions are helpful to students studying there。 what is more, various lectures organized by more colleges (大學(xué)里的學(xué)院) and departments make students in different majors form all round opinions on things。 and diverse activities enrich students' life after school。 additionally, a big garden campus provides a satisfying environment for studying and living for four or more years。
though more students might mean more competitions, though i might be a small fish in a big pond, i will be motivated to work harder。 in a big university, i believe, my visions will be broadened, and my college life will be a more fruitful and colourful one。 in word, i am inclined (傾向于) to study in a big university。
My Opinion on Campus Lectures
In recent years, more and more lectures are being given on campus. They are organized either by the departments or by the students unions with an aim to improve the students quality both mentally and academically. These lectures are usually in series and on different topics, such as arts, life, economy, psychology and world issues.
Generally speaking, the advantages of good lectures are various. First they broaden the students knowledge horizon and cultivate interest in different fields. Second, they make the life of the students colorful and enjoyable.
With these merits, lectures are just complementary and subordinate to our school work. If students spend too much time attending lectures, their regular study will be affected and disturbed. So, in my opinion, the students should, on the one hand, do their class work and homework well first, on the other hand, set as more time as possible to attend good lectures which are helpful to our life and study.

I'm happy every day, because I like working. While working, I can get a lot of happiness. But I prefer the world outside which is much more interesting.
I'm living in the mountainous area now, beyond which is the beautiful sea where I have never been. I want to enjoy myself at the seaside very much, so I have to tramp over the mountains at first. Although I often stumble on dark mountains,I'm not afraid of, because I don't want to give up my dream. If I lose heart, Iwill be a penniless failure. I must always go on. Maybe victory is next to me.A little more diligence will take me there.
What'smore, my present work is an apple tree, which is very tall. But there are somany apples in the tree. If I want to eat the apples, I should climb up the tall tree at first. It seems a little difficult to me, but it's worth doing. I'mstill young, and I'm so strong and powerful enough to live and fight. I believeI can taste the sweetest apples by my hard work.
Although nothing is like home, living in a parent-free environment can be one of the most fun things in your college life. In spite of its obvious drawbacks, staying away from home contributes to the full university experience that money can buy. Part of any student's decision on where to live is a financial one; however, money being not the issue, it is better for you to go for a new experience, if only for fun. Dorm life is real fun, even more so when your room is situated in the university's residence hall. To begin with, living in a dorm is a sure opportunity to meet people, so it is hard to feel lonely. For freshmen who are prone to 'homesickness', the companionship found there can make the transition away from home easier. Further, dorm life is a crash course in interpersonal skills because you need to learn how to get along with your roommates as well as people in your hallway.
Needless to say, it is more convenient to live on campus since you can walk everywhere you need to go without the trouble of commuting. Is it not that that kind of campus life which you have been waiting for? Nevertheless, living away from home is sometimes not as interesting as expected. Apart from financial considerations, there are other factors to consider. For one thing, roommate conflict could sound like a potential nightmare. Chances are that some roommates could be worse than others, making your dorm life somewhat difficult, indeed. For another, constant companionship implies lack of privacy which you usually enjoy at home. Moreover, even when you like to meet people, it could so happen that they are not all going to be people you want to meet. Altogether, money permitted, college life could not possibly be fun enough without the experience of living away from home. Such experience, even though not entirely agreeable, may be of use to a student soon to become a mature member of the community. In fact, if dorm life appears to you like freedom from parental control, you would soon realize that it is fun to be free, at least for a while.
Some say growing up in rich family promotes children's personality and character. Some think otherwise. What's your opinion? Why?
Well, it's quite a question argued by people all the time. I think a person's personality has little relation to his family economic level. It's commonly said that a child in rich family will has more chances and better choice for his study. However, if the kid himself isn't aware of this, that is all in vain. It's not unusual that many children from rich family are quite rude and conceited although they are always receive the best education. Then, how about the poor family's children? There is another saying that adversity cultivates heroes. To be honest, I disagree with it too. Poor children should learn harder and catch every chance to strengthen themselves.
However, the reality is often not like that. Subjectively speaking, poor children are easy to feel inferior and thus can't study well. Even if they study well, they hardly do well in practicing ability. Objectively speaking, poor children can hardly receive good and plentiful education because of the economic limit. That will cause deficiency in some literal or artistic talent such as music or dance. Therefore, I think children's personality have little relation to their family situation.

Dear Sir,
I am writing to put up some suggestions concerning our teaching and campus life.
As a sophomore from the Math Department, I am quite satisfied with the present condition of my university, but I like to say that there is still some room for improvement.
First, I believe that more attention should be paid to the guidance of our study methods. To some extent, university students are capable of studying by themselves, but more often than never, we find ourselves at a loss as to choose good books to read and appropriate topics for our research. It is clear that we need some advice from our teachers. If our teachers can lecture more on “how to learn by yourself” for us, especially for the freshmen, our skills will be further improved.
Second, more activities should be conducted to make our campus life more colorful. I餸 sorry to say that the present life on campus is quite boring. Every day we have classes, read in the library, or stay in the dormitory. Life here is routine. We need more meaningful activities organized to enrich our college life and enable us to study more efficiently.
I hope you can consider my suggestions. Thank you.
Yours sincerely
Li Ming
Currently the ranking of colleges is very prevalent in China, fueled by parents who are eager to look for guidance and universities which spend lavishly to raise their standings.
But there has been much debate about the value of such rankings. Some experts speak highly of the rankings, noting that.the league tables are useful to college-bound students and their parents. The view is echoed by a 20xx study, which concludes that the rankings spur universities to do a better job of educating students. Others, however, cannot share this point of view. They dismiss the rankings as pointless, bluntly pointing out the dubious statistics used in the rankings. They think the very idea ridiculous that universities with very different cultures and programs can be compared.
As for me, I side with the former view. Though it is incredibly difficult to judge how well a university performs, it does not necessarily mean the panorama of a university is unavailable.
