12月2日，美國(guó)總統(tǒng)布什宣布提名內(nèi)布拉斯加州州長(zhǎng)邁克·約翰斯擔(dān)任農(nóng)業(yè)部長(zhǎng)，接替已經(jīng)辭職的美國(guó)歷史上首位女性農(nóng)業(yè)部長(zhǎng)維尼曼女士。據(jù)悉，布什已經(jīng)選定前紐約警察局長(zhǎng)、現(xiàn)年49歲的科里克接替里奇出任國(guó)土安全部長(zhǎng)，這一提名還需得到參議院批準(zhǔn)。外電報(bào)道如下：President Bush has chosen former New York police commissioner Bernard Kerik, who helped direct the emergency response to the Sept. 11 terrorist strikes against the Twin Towers, to lead the Homeland Security Department, charged with safeguarding Americans from future attack, administration officials said Thursday.

Bush also announced his choice of Nebraska Gov. Mike Johanns to be agriculture secretary, selecting a dairy farmer's son who has traveled widely to promote American farm sales abroad.
