蘇珊: (Thinking) I don`t become CEO of this company to see us miss our targets.    (心想)我成為這家公司的首席執(zhí)行官可不是為了看著公司無法達到預(yù)期的業(yè)績.    蘇珊: Bill, these charts from the fincace department are not encouraging.    比爾.這些財務(wù)部門提供的圖表不太理想.    比爾: I know. We`re failing far short of our revenue projections.    我知道.我們遠沒有達到預(yù)算的收入.    蘇珊: That`s right. And take a look at this chart. It shows our fourth-quarter results compared to last year`s.    沒錯.看一下這張圖表.圖中把我們第四季度的成果和去年同期做了對比.    比爾: That isn`t good. Revenues are down-down nearly twenty percent compared to last year.    表現(xiàn)不好.收入很低--幾乎比去年同期低了百分之二十.    蘇珊: I`m afraid so. And it gets worse. This chart shows investors` expectations.    恐怕是這樣.而且它還有繼續(xù)下滑的趨勢.這張圖顯示了投資者的預(yù)期目標.    比爾: They expect a ten percent increase. We`ll never be able to make that.    他們希望能有百分之十的增量.我們絕不可能達到.    蘇珊: Have some faith! Where there`s a will, there`s a way, right?    要有信心!    比爾: With back-to school season around the comer we might be able to drum up more orders. But, there just wouldn`t be enough time to get supplies in, processed, and shipped.    學校即將開學.我們或許能獲得更多訂單.但是獲取材料供給.加工與運輸?shù)臅r間就不夠了.    蘇珊: Don`t worry about logistics; focus on selling. You`ve come through for me in the past. Don`t let me down.    別擔心后勤事務(wù).專心銷售就好了.你以前就曾為我順利攻克難關(guān).別讓我失望.    比爾: Your pep talk`s encouraging. But it`s simply impossible at this stage of the ball game. We`ll have to take the hit this quarter and make it up next quarter.    你的話很鼓舞人.但就現(xiàn)在情況來看.已經(jīng)不可能了.我們這一季度虧損一點.下一季度才能完成目標.    蘇珊: I hate to burst your bubble, but if we don`t make it happen this quarter, you and I may not be around for the next one.    我很不想讓你的美夢破滅.不過如果我們這一季度沒法完成目標.你跟我或許下一季度就不在這兒混了.
