Good morning/afternoon, dear judges. I'm the ___(1st /2nd ……) competitor. It's my great honor to be here to talk about my teaching ideas. My topic is Module11 unit 1 In China, we open a gift later. And my presentation consists of the following aspects, the analysis of teaching material , students ,teaching aims, and so on.

Firstly, I’m going to talk about the analysis of the teaching material. This lesson is from the listening part of module 11.(taken from students’ book 3, which is produced by Foreign Language Teaching and Search Press)
The main topic of this lesson is about different traditions of different countries. By studying this unit, we will enable students to understand some words and some important and useful sentence structures. At the same time, encourage students to speak English in class, which can help students improve their listening and speaking skills.

Secondly, I’d like to talk something about the students. My students are in junior 2. They are active, curious and interested in new things. But they are lack of self-control and self-confidence in English study. After several years’ study, they have mastered the basic English knowledge and skills. But in this class, it is a little difficult for them to use the model verb correctly and talk about different traditions of different counties in English.

According to the new standard curriculum and the syllabus, after studying the teaching material and analyzing the rule of children’s growing of mind, I set the following aims.
Knowledge aims: Students can understand and master the meanings of the new words and can use the modal verb correctly.
Ability aims: Through role-play and group work, student can improve their ability of working in group and ability of communication.
Emotional aims: Students can get more interests in different cultures and learning English.

Then, let me talk something about the key point and difficult point.
the key point of this lesson is to make sure students can master the key words such as chopsticks, later, immediately and use the model word “must” “can” correctly.
While the difficult point is to make sure ss use the model word correctly and help students be confident to speak English in class.

Now, let me talk about teaching methods and study methods. I will mainly use task-based teaching method. In my class, Various tasks will be used for the students to help them master the new words and the sentence structure. Besides, I will use Total Situational teaching method and Communicative Approach.
For students, Experiences—Practice—Feedback” is the best way for students to learn.so,in this class, I’ll create more opportunities for my students to practice and show the target languages step by step.

Next, I'll describe the most important parts of my teaching design—the teaching procedure,which is made up of five steps:warming-up,pre-listening,while-listening,post-listening,summary and homework.
Step 1 Lead-in
Firstly, I will sing a song named far away from home with my students together ,and i will do like this And then I will ask ss some questions to lead in our topic. ()
Students in junior high school are fond of song, the purpose of this design is to arouse ss’ interests and through some questions to naturally lead in our topic In China, we open a gift later.
Step 2 Pre-listening
With the help of the PPT, I’m going to present the pictures about these new words such as chopsticks dictionary and read words together several times and compare words later and immediately. After learning each new word, I will lead ss to do card game, make sure every ss has a word card when I say a word, students who has this word card should stand up to say “I’ am here” and read the new word with correct pronunciation.
And then listen the radio and finish the activity 1and 2, according to activity1and 2, set up a situation for the dialogue. Ask them a question and let them listen the radio with question.
The purpose of this is to clean the word and arouse the whole Ss’ interests of learning English words and prepare for next step.
Step 3 While-listening:
Listen to the passage and play the recorder for three times.
1st time:
Get students to give out the main idea of the passage. and let them answer the questions I ask before .
2nd time:
let students to answer some questions in activity 3and 4 . And i will praise students who got the right answer and encourage students who may have problem in understanding the passage
3rd time:
Let students check their answers and exchange their answers with their partners, and correct the errors. if necessary, I will explain to them.
And then let students to find out the important sentences and explain for them you mustn’t break anything. You must use red paper for hongbao. And then do “high and low voice” game, one group speak one sentence loudly next group speak another sentence quietly.
Purpose: Enable students to understand the given material better by answering the questions. And proper cooperation can arouse the students’ interest in English learning. “Task-based” teaching method is used here to develop the students’ ability of listening and also their ability of co-operation will be well trained.
Step 4 Post-listening:
Let ss Role play the conversation, 4 people as a group, each one has his role. I will give them 5 minutes to practice and prepare. And then ask some groups to come to the stage to act before the whole class. Whether they do it good or not, I will applaud for them. And then stress out the key vocabulary and sentence structure. Ask students to pay attention to those key points.
This step can help students to understand the whole passage deeply and apply some key words and sentences at the same time.
Step 5 Summary and Discussion
Ask students to summary what we have learned today. And let’s review the knowledge together.
I design this to enable students to practice and remember the new words and important sentences again.
Step6: Homework
I will encourage my students to write a letter to introduce Chinese tradition to their foreign friends or share it with their classmates.
The reason why I design the homework like this is to help ss practice the key points we have learned and practice the us

At last, let me talk about my blackboard design. Which consists –parts , the first part is the topic ,the second part is the key words and sentence structure. my blackboard is logical and neat and my students can clearly see what we have learned in this class.
