Neil: Today's new word is 'guts'. G.U.T.S. – guts.
Neil: Well, 'guts' is an informal slang word meaning courage. If you have guts, you have courage.
Helen: 哦,明白了。Guts 就是勇氣的意思,而且是個(gè)俚語(yǔ)。
Neil: Yes, for example, you might say "You need to have guts to be a policeman."
Helen: 沒(méi)錯(cuò),你需要勇氣去做一名警察。
Neil: Yes. 'Guts' is informal, but you could use it in most situations.
Helen: 哦,guts 是出現(xiàn)在非正式場(chǎng)合的,但是在大部分的情況下,我們都可以用它。
Neil: That's right.
Helen: Neil, 你覺(jué)得在什么情況下需要勇氣呢?
Neil: Yes, how about asking someone for a date!
