My View on the Post-graduate Craze
Every year, million of college students will sit in for the post-graduate entrance examination. More and more students have regarded the pursuing of a master degree as an indispensable part of their education.
What is to account for their enthusiasm for a post-graduate diploma? First, it is the demand of the time. In an age of knowledge updating and information explosion, what you have learned in college can hardly meet the demand of society. Talents of high quality who are equipped with the latest knowledge and skill will be needed more than ever. That is why many students will further their studies. Second, we all recognize that the more education you have, the more likely you are to succeed. Compared with those without a master degree, masters will enjoy more preferential treatment, for example, better salaries, more opportunities for promotion and training. A post-graduate degree can guarantee a more promising career. Last but not least, with the graduation of a large number of college students, competition for jobs becomes more and more fierce. One way to gain some advantage over others is to have a higher degree. No wonder millions of students will consider pursuing a post-graduate degree.

Nowadays, some universities give students the right to choose who teaches some of their classes. This has led to some debate over whether students should be give this much power.
There are several factors that students consider when choosing a lecturer, including the teaching style of the lecturer, the lecturer?s academic background, and the lecturer?s reputation among students. The ideal lecturer is one who has an interesting teaching style, a diverse academic background, and a good reputation among students.
There are both positive and negative aspects to allowing students to choose their lecturers. Giving students the choice encourages them to take ownership for their classes,
and also puts pressure on teachers to improve their teaching quality. However, the factors that students consider might not be the ones that lead to the highest quality of education. Schools might end up with lecturers who teach interesting classes without much content.
學(xué)生是否可以自選任課教師
如今,部分大學(xué)已允許學(xué)生自主選擇某些課程的任課教師。關(guān)于學(xué)生是否應(yīng)該擁有這份權(quán)力引發(fā)了熱議。
選擇老師時(shí),學(xué)生通?紤]以下幾個(gè)因素:老師的教學(xué)風(fēng)格、學(xué)術(shù)背景以及在學(xué)生之間的知名度。老師是否受歡迎取決于詼諧幽默的教學(xué)風(fēng)格、廣博的學(xué)識(shí)以及在學(xué)生間的良好口碑。
允許學(xué)生自主選擇任課老師的做法各有利弊。好處是學(xué)生成為課堂的主人,同時(shí)督促教師提高教學(xué)質(zhì)量。
反對(duì)者則認(rèn)為,這可能影響到高質(zhì)量的教學(xué)水平。課堂可能淪為教師空洞宣講、只為投其所好的場(chǎng)所。

Your child Wang Gang?s grades have been very high this year. I have been extremely pleased with his work. Although he didn?t do very well in the first year, he seems to find the second year easier. He is highly motivated. I think his excellent performance is probably due in part to the support he received from you, who I think take a lot of interest in his schoolwork and always help him with his homework.
However, Wang Gang doesn?t care much for sport and rarely takes part in after-school activities. He is very shy and finds it difficult to make friends at school. I wish Wang Gang would put as much effort into his social life as he does into his studies.

今年,王剛同學(xué)的學(xué)習(xí)成績(jī)突飛猛進(jìn),我對(duì)此十分欣慰。第一年王剛的學(xué)習(xí)差強(qiáng)人意,但第二年學(xué)習(xí)成績(jī)有所改觀。他表現(xiàn)出很強(qiáng)的主動(dòng)性,我認(rèn)為這與您的支持有一定關(guān)系。您一定花費(fèi)了不少精力關(guān)注并幫助他的學(xué)業(yè)。
不足之處是,王剛同學(xué)缺乏體育鍛煉,很少參與課后活動(dòng)。他過于靦腆,不善與同學(xué)交往。我希望王剛同學(xué)能像對(duì)待學(xué)業(yè)一樣處理好人際關(guān)系。
