A little boy invited his mother to attend his elementaryschool’sfirst teacher-parent conference. To the little boy sdismay, shesaid she would go. This would be the first time that hisclassmatesand teacher met his mother and he was embarrassed byherappearance. Although she was a beautiful woman, there was aseverescar that covered nearly the entire center side of her face.The boynever wanted to talk about why or how she got the scar.
At the conference, the people were impressed by the kindnessandnatural beauty of his mother despite the scar, but the littleboywas still embarrassed and hid himself from everyone. Hedid,however, get within earshot of a conversation between hismotherand his teacher, and heard them speaking.
How did you get the scar on your face? the teacher asked. The mother replied, When my son was a baby, he was in a roomthatcaught on fire . Everyone was too afraid to go in because thefirewas out of control, so I went in. As I was running toward hiscrib ,I saw a beam coming down and I placed myself over him tryingtoprotect him. I was knocked unconscious but fortunately, afiremancame in and saved both of us. She touched the burned sideof herface. This scar will be permanent 8, but to this day, Ihave neverregretted doing what I did.
At this point, the little boy came out running towards hismotherwith tears in his eyes. He hugged her and felt anoverwhelmingsense of the sacrifice that his mother had made forhim. He heldher hand tightly for the rest of the day.

小男孩的媽媽答道：“兒子很小的時(shí)候，他的房間突然著火了，大家都不敢進(jìn)去，因?yàn)榛饎?shì)失控了。我進(jìn)去了。就在我跑向他的嬰兒床時(shí)，我看到一根房梁就要倒下來(lái)，我撲到他的床上，想護(hù)住他。房梁把我砸暈了。幸運(yùn)的是，消防員沖了進(jìn)來(lái)，救了我們�！彼樕系膫蹋f(shuō)：“這塊傷疤會(huì)永遠(yuǎn)留在臉上，但是直到今天，我從沒為我做的事后悔過(guò)。”
聽到這里，小男孩走了出來(lái)，滿含熱淚奔向媽媽，擁抱著她。母親為自己作出的犧牲讓他內(nèi)心激動(dòng)無(wú)比。那天后來(lái)，小男孩緊抓媽媽的手不曾松過(guò)。

Mother's Loveis the greatest in the world. One evening, it was raining hard and it was very dark outside. Suddenly I got a bad headache. My mother felt my head and found that I had a high fever. She was so worried that shi took me on the back to the nearby hospital at once.
At that time, it was about midnight and it was raining even harder. I looked down at my mother andfound that she was walking hard in the heavy rain. I couldn't keep back my tears. When she was too tired to walk on, she letme down.
But when she found I could hardly stand, she took me on the back again and went on walking. When we got to the hospital, she was out of breath. The doctor looked me over carefully and let me take some hot water and some medicine.
On the way home, I felt a little better. So I told my mother that could walk slowly by myself. But mother took me in the back without a word. When we got home, mother fell to the floor. She was too tired! The next day I felt much better, but mother got ill.
What a great mother! How great mother's love is!

Mothers usually receive gifts on this day and carnation is regarded as the flower for mother. In China, the flower for mother is day lily, also known as Nepenthe. In addition, cleaning up the room, doing housework and a big dinner are considered to be the best Mother's Day gifts.

My Mother’s Garden【媽媽的花園】
My mother is very good at raising plants and flowers.
We have plants and flowers indoors and outdoors all the year round. Some of our plants were very small in the beginning,
but now they are large and very beautiful.
On top of our roof there is a big glass-enclosed greenhouse.
All our friends love to come to our house to see the beautiful world my mother has made for us. Every morning and evening we see my mother taking care of her plants like little children.
As her real children grow older and more independent,
my mother devotes more time to her garden.
This is a very good way to spend one’s free time.
My Mother【我的母親】
My mother is sixty-three years old, and for the last forty year she has been the village doctor. She has a small clinic that she prepares medicine and treats small injuries,
and also sells canned powder milk.
Our house has people in and out at all hours of the day and night. The villagers always like to come to her clinic to see the doctor and to meet their neighbors, too.
Almost all the villagers come to my mother when their baby is due. My mother is very good at predicting the day the baby will come.
Sometimes my mother will not get enough sleep if the babies come late at night or early in the morning.
There are special rooms for the mother and baby, and usually they stay at the doctor's house about twenty-four hours.
We always like to see the new babies get their first bath because they look so red and small.
All the village people know and trust my mother because she is such a quiet, kind,
and experienced friend of theirs.
